Benevolent System, Michelle Xen, 2016, multimedia installation.

Benevolent System was developed during the QUT Alumni Art Residency in the Frank Moran Gallery. Remixing elements of self-written songs, music video, text and haze, the installation creates an environment exploring immersive experience.

The grid composition reflects on an ongoing series of installations where a dialogue is set up between two opposing screens with a site for observation in the centre.

The installation of four words: EMPATHY EXPANSE TECTONIC & DISCOMFORT, framed the site for the audience, setting up two potential perspectives on the screens in dialogue. These text works have since expanded including the public commission Empathy Expanse II and installation series Tectonic Discomfort.
